Are Employee Conferences Worth It?

In today’s business landscape, more and more companies are shifting to remote friendly workplaces. When it comes to flexible work environments, the perks for employees are extensive—scheduling freedom, increased productivity, and more autonomy. However, remote work does have a downfall—isolation. In a recent study, 21 percent of remote workers named lack of community as one of their main on-the-job issues.

For companies with a lot of remote employees—typical for sales organizations—creating a culture of community is imperative to the success of not only employees, but the business as a whole. Regular companywide communication and meetings are crucial, but company conferences or national sales meetings are what can truly unite an organization and solidify company culture.

Despite having many geographically dispersed employees at Beyond, we’re proud of our culture of connectedness. Last month, our company gathered for the Beyond Bash in Louisville, KY, home of the Beyond Service Center, to celebrate our mission and success as a company. Not only did the event serve as a motivator for our employees, it was also an opportunity for product and sales leaders to further educate our Sales team on our product offerings and the latest industry trends.

Connecting with the Louisville Service Center

Traditionally, sales and support are often two very isolated departments. However, creating a culture where they work together allows customers to experience a more cohesive, and likely positive, brand interaction. At Beyond, one of our greatest assets is our US-based Service Center. Our outstanding Client Support team, available via Live Chat, text, and phone, are committed to helping our Business Advocates and clients solve problems and get the assistance they need. Bash attendees had the opportunity to visit the Service Center, learn about the growing office, and personally thank the team members who help them every day.

Understanding Beyond’s integrated business services

At Beyond, we believe that continually educating our workforce is the key to driving business innovation. In an ever-changing industry, we are always adding to our robust suite of solutions and enhancing product features and functions. The Sales team had the opportunity to meet with Product Owners and discuss each product’s unique offerings and capabilities. Sales leadership provided valuable insight on how to best help small to midsize businesses thrive and grow using Beyond’s solutions.

Lessons from leadership

Many companies fail to utilize one very valuable resource—employees. Beyond is lucky to have years of industry experience contained in our people. Chief Executive Officer, Robert O. Carr, shared insights on the future of the transaction industry and how Beyond plans to continue to innovate our technologies and solutions. Chief Sales Office, Blaine Burn, motivated Sales employees by sharing his own account of struggles and triumphs as a rising sales employee when he was first starting his career.

Why we do what we do

Nearly 60 percent of employees who are proud of their company’s social responsibility are more engaged at their jobs. With Give Back dedicated as a founding beneficiary and partner of Beyond, finding inspiration to drive business forward is not hard to come by. Powerful testimonials from Give Back scholars reminded attendees why they do what they do, realigning the team with the mission at the core of the company.

Fostering trust within an organization is vital to its success—companies high in trust are 2.5 times more likely to function as high performance organizations. Companywide in-person meetings and conferences are one of the easiest ways to give employees visibility into leadership and new business operations, ultimately building that trust.
